On September 7, DEWA utilized its social media platforms to heighten awareness regarding phishing attacks. They strongly advised users to visit their official website to gain a deeper understanding of the essential cybersecurity measures that should be followed.

On its website, DEWA provides the following tips to identify fraudulent messages and emails:

1. How to check if it is a phishing email

  • Validate the sender’s address and domain.
  • Examine the email’s logo or layout.
    • Identify any grammatical errors or spelling mistakes.

2. Make sure you have a strong password

According to Dewa, it is crucial for your account to have a robust password that is both memorable and secure. It is important to avoid including any personal information, such as your date of birth or name, as these details can be easily guessed by scammers.

If you prefer not to burden yourself with remembering passwords, an excellent alternative is to utilize the UAE Pass. 3. Only use approved platforms to pay your Dewa bills

It is important to note that Dewa will never request you to “download your Dewa bill to pay” or prompt you to click on any suspicious links. To ensure the secure payment of your Dewa bills, please utilize the following authorized channels:

  • Dewa app – Accessible on Apple, Android, and Huawei devices.
    • Dewa website – Visit dewa.gov.ae.
    • Empay UAE Application
    • Dubai Now app – Available on Apple, Android, and Huawei devices.
    • EasyPay
    • Auto Pay – Provided by Etisalat by e&, enabling customers to conveniently pay Etisalat bills and utility bills.
    • Apple Pay
    • SamsungPay
    • Tayseer – Exclusively for Emirates NBD customers.
    • Banks – A total of 22 UAE and international banks accept Dewa bill payments.
    • ENOC or EPPCO Petrol Stations – Cash payments for Dewa bills can be made at any of these petrol stations.
    • Emirates NBD (CDM Machine) – Emirates NBD customers can make payments using cash and cheques through Cash Deposit Machines (CDM).

Please be cautious and only use these authorized channels to pay your Dewa bills.

4. Fake callers

Be cautious of unfamiliar phone numbers contacting you and always confirm the caller’s identity before sharing any information. Refrain from disclosing personal details.
